Paper Saving, Lets Get Hopping Round 1.

Welcome, Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. This is my first blog - hop and I am crossing my fingers it runs smoothly.

We are looking at ways to be thrifty in crafting, and anyone who crafts  knows it can be expensive, but there are some little tips and tricks that can help and keep your expenses down.

My biggest tip is to use your card stock or printed paper from  your  matting, this is hidden behind your focal point, and can be used for your sentiment, embellishments or even used in a later card or scrapbooking page.

In the case of my "Cheers to a New Year" card, I have stamped and punched my sentiment, for the matting, it is hidden behind the lovely  'Year of Cheer" specialty paper, this way I am not wasting card by using another piece.

My second tip is to have a envelope or container to save your off-cuts of paper or card. The next time you need a piece to punch, die, or even a scrap to stamp you are not cutting in to a new piece, I have each of my colours in a different envelope but to start off you could divide your card by colour families.

I hope these little tips are useful to you, thanks again for hopping over to my blog, the next blog is  Tanya Rees.

Supplies: Season of Whimsey stamp set, Cheers to the Year stamp set, Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper, Champagne Foil sheets, Silver Embossing Powder, Fresh Fig card stock, Whisper White card stock.

  1. I love your flashy New Years card Tracy! And you have sorted your scraps by colour! Good for you! I have been meaning to sort my scrap bin by color for over 10 years! It hasn't happened to say the least! lol Great 1st hop! You should be proud! 💖

  2. Hmm, I actually never thought to do that. When I cut into a piece of cardstock I always cut it to an A2 size and then grab and go. Strategically placing the die cuts in the center and then using the rest to mat with is a brilliant tip!

  6. Cute card! I do file folders with color families, so it's easy to just reach in and pull out what I need, but it's not as neat as this!

    1. Thanks so much for your comment Char, I think you have to start somewhere with your scraps, and use whatever system works for you, so as to not waste that precious card and paper.
